This book is the first attempt to collect together some of the tunes inspired by Scilly that have been written over the last twenty years or so. There is now a large and growing body of original Scillonian music.
Unlike neighbouring Cornwall, and other remote Celtic regions, Scilly has no surviving traditional music of its own. This gap of silence is being quickly filled by the many musicians increasingly drawn to the landscape and stories of this inspiring group of islands.
The forty tunes included are suitable for accompanying dancing, for playing at pub sessions or for sharing round the kitchen table at home. All are evocative of the islands in some way.
